IMRA Europe is the research centre of a very large automotive component manufacturer. My main role was in turbomachinery design for turbocharger and fuel cell compressor applications. This involved the complete process from 1D impeller design empirical calculations through to 3D aerodynamic performance optimisation using CFD, Mechanical integrity verification using FEA, creation of engineering manufacture drawings, building of prototypes and physical testing of performance on test rigs.
