I am an expert on early career researchers and the scientific enterprise who is passionate, methodical, and looking to build a career improving the research experience for future generations of researchers while strengthening science for the society it serves.I currently work as a consultant for organizations looking to improve the way they interact with or incorporate early career researchers into their work. My goal is to ensure that organizations can adapt to the changing needs of the research enterprise, focusing on the needs and issues facing upcoming generations of researchers. I also seek to empower future generations of aspiring researchers to make evidence-based rational decisions that help them reach their desired potential.I have spent 6 years working to improve research in higher education, with a particular focus on the U.S., on biomedicine, and on postdocs. This work began while I was myself a postdoc, organizing conferences to empower early career researchers in making changes to the research enterprise. I co-founded and ran the 501(c)3 "Future of Research" organization for 3 years, and in that time sat on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine Next Generation Researchers Initiative, a study mandated by the U.S. Congress under the 21st Century Cures Act. I was the youngest member of the committee and author of the resulting report, "Breaking Through".Prior to my higher education work, I undertook two postdocs, the first at Boston Children's Hospital (2 years) and the second at Tufts University (2.5 years) in cell and developmental biology. I have a PhD in Oncology from the University of Cambridge, UK, and Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Natural Sciences (Chemistry), also from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Writing, and 17 others.
