In October 2024 my role transferred from Advance Northumberland to Business Northumberland, which is a delivery brand of Northumberland County Council focussed on economic development and inward investment into the county.My role is to introduce companies in Northumberland to business support services that can help them to unlock growth potential. We liaise with a wide range of service providers locally and nationally to ensure that companies in Northumberland can plug into them. They include:1 - Advance Northumberland/Northumberland County Council 2 - Central UK Government - DBT, DSENZ 3 - Other partners in the business support network. Examples of support we can provide include:* Identifying opportunities for grant funding & supporting grant applications.* Help to identify sites and premises. * Softening access to county council services, e.g. planning applications, highways, fast broadband* Providing expertise and linkage into regional clusters in key sectors such as renewable energy, offshore & pharma.* "How-to" mentoring for smaller businesses.* Providing access to property professionals to provide initial know-how to clients.Services are provided on behalf of the local authority without charge.
