I managed a staff of up to eleven employees and was responsible for ensuring the suitability and relevant training for close to 100 volunteers. With a turnover of over £500,000 I was responsible for budgeting, cash flow projections and investments. Upon arriving, the organisation was making a £75,000 annual loss. Through new fundraising, cost cutting, rental income and grant applications we managed to make a £4,000 profit after my first full financial year in office and a £25,000 profit in my second financial year.

The ZF is the UK’s grassroots organisation for Israel advocacy. We reached our goals through pro-active campaigning, creation of educational materials and running over 200 educational events throughout the year. Line Management: I was responsible for monitoring, motivating and managing a team of six staff and eleven dedicated volunteers, each with ongoing responsibilities. Strategy: I led, managed and implemented a strategic review of the entire organisation, resulting in a rebrand and change of direction. We cut back a number of our projects in order to focus on our new core target areas. Grant Applications: I was responsible for submitting grant applications and successfully received seven grants totalling over £200,000. I ensured adherence to the grant guidelines and wrote progress reports throughout.Event & Project Management: I produced hundreds of events ranging from European conferences, concerts, club nights, fundraisers and seminars. Highlights included a concert at Wembley Arena attended by over 7,000 people, conferences at Manchester and London science museums attended by over 3,000 students and a street market in London with over 100m of stalls for 3 days with foot traffic in excess of 10,000.

As part of only a small team my responsibilities were vast, including organising all logistics of five simultaneous indoor and outdoor summer camps across Europe for over 500 participants, including the training and welfare of over 200 volunteers, being legally responsible for all participants, whilst being the 24 hour emergency contact. I was also responsible for the organisation as a whole, including staff management, direct line-management of two part-time staff, strategy development & long term planning, sitting on cross-communal committees to organise collaborative projects and being the public face and advocate of the organisation. Working primarily with volunteers I quickly learnt the art of self-empowerment and motivation.
