It's about time I updated this....I wrote it three years ago and the time has flown. I have the privilege of working alongside some wonderful folk at the College of Paramedics. When I get around to a proper update I'll list some of the many projects we have undertaken and some of our achievements. It's been a great journey so far and who knows where it will take us next.....Just outside the village where I live is a crossroads, with a sign that points down three of the four roads. Sometimes you have to take the other road, just to see where it leads....I did. It was a good decision. In previous roles I have overseen the delivery of undergraduate paramedic programmes in the UK and New Zealand, seeking to harness the energies of highly talented teams of educators in order to provide students with the best possible preparation for professional practice. I have provided external advice and support to healthcare and paramedic programmes at a number of universities and I am a member of the College of Paramedics Education Advisory Committee and Curriculum Review Group. I was a founder member of Paramedics Australasia New Zealand and later co-opted on to the Board of Paramedics Australasia as a Director. Whilst in New Zealand I was actively engaged in the development of the first Extended Care Paramedic programme and later recruited as a subject matter expert for the evaluation of the Ministry of Health Clinical Triage Pilot.I have a wide range of interests in healthcare education and I try to use my experience to make a difference to the way we work. Some of my favourite topics are: team development and leadership in healthcare and education; simulation based learning and the use of non-technical skills in prehospital care; improving survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest; the use of web based and blended learning; and the problem of knowledge transfer.
Listed skills include Emergency Medicine, Healthcare, Emergency Management, Training, and 40 others.
