Having delivered University and independent lectures across almost all aspects of applied economics for almost 25 years, Gary Wade is one of Ireland's most experienced economics practitioners.A degree and masters graduate of University College Cork, Gary subsequently furthered his studies at the University of Limerick, the University of Chicago, the London School of Economics and Oxford University in the field of advanced econometrics. Notably, Gary is a winner of the Government of Ireland (IRCHSS) Scholarship as well as the University of Limerick Registrar’s Scholarship in Economics.In February 2020, by special invitation for teaching achievements in the field of applied economics, Gary appeared as the opening speaker at the first European Youth Parliament to convene in Ireland.Previously, in 2019, Gary acted as Chief Economics Advisor to the history-making Irish Schools Economics Team which competed in the International Economic Olympiad in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This is a global competition to establish the most outstanding economics students in the world. This Irish team made a little bit of history by returning with two bronze medals.A year earlier, in 2018, Gary opened the Cork School of Economics, who in association with educational partner, Bank of Ireland, deliver world-class independent economics and econometric workshops at University level. An internationally published academic in the area of econometric analysis, Gary lectured the Economics Programme as part of the Global MBA for Edinburgh Business School prior to launching the CSE having previously lectured Economics for both University College Cork and University of Limerick respectively. Gary is also a state examiner with respect to the Irish Leaving Certificate and has a strong interest in student welfare. Gary has spoken publicly on numerous occasions regarding the need for a greater awareness with respect to dyslexia in the Irish education system. For this purpose, Gary wrote and directed a one-off comedy-drama special focusing on dyslexia entitled 'Standing Up' produced by BAFTA winner, Rob Heyland. This show was released by OldTeam Productions, Gary's independent production firm and and was featured by the Two Norries Podcast and Pieta House as part of a national release on the 1st of January, 2022. Gary travels annually to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival having performed to sold-out events at the legendary Cabaret Voltaire and the world-renowned Three Sisters location.
