My initial role was part of the presales & consultancy team. Responsible for ITIL-based managed service designs for client-specific services, individual deals/bids, filling gaps in the portfolio. Working with clients, sales, SAs and operational teams to create viable support models with cost assessment, pricing and service descriptions, all within deal.

Managing the day-to-day operational delivery of Network Monitoring and Application Performance Management (based on Ipanema). I was also Product Marketing Manager, responsible for security products and the relationship with Juniper Networks.

Working for the fledgling COLT Telecom internet business, I was responsible for the rollout of a range of Managed Services (Data Centre Co-location, Managed Hosting, IT Support, Application Management) across all COLT Countries, with multiple European support centres.

At the birth of online marketing, I managed the development, launch and promotion of an e-Commerce service that gave web sites the interface to banks required for on-line transactions. Cable and Wireless was a truly global organisation, and I benefitted from collaboration with colleagues across the world.

Predicting the move from paper to the digital catalogue, I dipped my toe in the water, managing the launch of business and residential Internet services across the then CableTel franchise areas. Surprisingly, my experience managing diverse European cultures came into play working with colleagues in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as England.

Promoted back to the UK to manage product marketing and promotional strategy across Europe, I managed a team of product managers, both new and experienced, working with OEM manufacturers on price positioning and back/front cover promotions.

This was my dream job: responsible for the French market, using my French every day, managing product profitability, pricing up hundreds of products in the catalogue every quarter to achieve margin goals, and designing promotions across several product ranges with hundreds of products. Living in Paris... why did I leave? Well... promotion beckoned...
