Leading the Enterprise Architecture practice within HSBC Securities Services. Defining technology strategy, introducing new technologies and concepts, and ensuring change aligns to strategy, principles and standards.• Delivered the architecture strategy roadmap for Securities Services aligning to the business strategy; defining the architecture building-blocks, including Digital & Data capabilities. This helped direct technology investment decisions on a significant annual technology budget; demonstrating how operating costs would be reduced whilst significantly improving client experience and increasing delivery cadence• Directed and designed the technology impact of major change initiatives e.g. Brexit, balance sheet reorganisation, UK ring-fenced bank. This ensured the bank was able to continue to operate and remained compliant with regulatory and market standards• Directed and produced Reference Architecture and white papers on emerging technologies e.g. APIs, DLT, Data as a Service, Cloud. This helped delivery teams adopt new technologies into business solutions and future-proofed our client proposition e.g. first Custodian to deliver a Digital Vault solution using DLT• Defined and implemented the architecture governance framework for all technology changes and aligning to agile ways of working (DevSecOps). This ensured all changes were delivered in a safe and sustainable way, complying with current standards and principles• Formed the Enterprise Architecture department; defined the Architecture Practice, including the structure and R&Rs. This ensured the team and individuals within the team were aligned to, and could effectively serve, both the business and technology communities• Provided architecture consultancy to HSBC clients to assist their IT departments and led the IT responses with the deal team for client RFP/RFI questionnaires. Defined the solution and technology strategies across all IT workstreams within Global Custody, Treasury, Corporate Trust and Agency Lending businesses. Design Authority working with business heads, project managers and development leads to create a cohesive technology roadmap to meet business strategies and product development.• Defined and published Architecture Principles for use across Securities Services covering Functional, Information, Application and Infrastructure disciplines; ensured projects met Architecture Governance guidelines and sanctioned architecture dispensation where appropriate. This reduced the risk of change across the organisation and avoided costly retrofits due to audit points or production incidents• Identified and defined the architecture building blocks required to achieve future state architecture across Securities Services; introduced data solutions, including Data Warehousing, Data Marts, ETL, Middleware (transformation and orchestration), Change Data Capture and Master Data Management. This meant a clear direction was established for technology investment over the following 3 – 5 years• Defined the technology roadmap for major programmes including the re-engineering of c100 applications. Identified cross-dependencies of change between IT programmes within Securities Services and at Group level and identified functional gaps. This meant large and complex change initiatives understood their cross-dependencies and their scope change, leading to lower programme execution risk• Chaired the Securities Services Architecture Forum across all business lines to agree product and technology strategy. This ensured business, technology and architecture remained aligned and technology investment decisions could be made more quickly• Identified and recommended solution candidates (both internal and vendor) to meet business requirements. This ensured proposed solutions were sustainable, fit-for-purpose and fair value to the bank

Managed a global development team covering multiple technology disciplines from n-Tier thin layer applications through to Z-Series mainframe and vendor applications. Full technology ownership across Global Custody, Treasury, Corporate Trust and Agency Lending.• Defined the technology stack across all frameworks / platforms and promoted the re-use of code & systems across business and technology lines. This simplified the technology stack and promoted cross-fertilisation of staff• Integrated onshore and offshore teams to promote co-development, defined a global support model (follow the sun), and ensured staff development plans were meaningful. This led to a very low attrition rate for strong+ performing staff (<2%)• Managed and owned the department budget; assisted the business with formulating annual technology plans, tracking costs and forecasts. This meant IT costs never exceeded agreed annual budget plans • Achieved year-on-year reduction in outstanding Change Requests and critical system outages (Red days)

Led the development of customer and investor facing HSBC websites, including full site launches, service releases and time-to-market releases.A wide variety of websites successfully delivered into production including UK Corporate & Commercial website, HSBC Stakeholder Pensions, IPO and Venture Capital websites. Worked closely with Product and Marketing departments to ensure HSBC branding was enhanced. Defined the development lifecycle process for all internet deliveries and introduced stylesheet design to increase delivery cadence and ensure a consistent look and feel across HSBC’s online offering.

Led full development lifecycle, including application architecture, analysis, design, testing, and security for numerous large build projects.A wide range of use cases successfully delivered including bond issuance and paying agent, common depository, stock lending, reconciliations, vault management, and market data management. Introduced an iterative build approach and automated testing using RUP framework and UML modelling to increase delivery cadence and reduce errors in production.
