Passionate, self-driven and strongly committed, Gary takes great pride in his self-made background. The fact that he had to drop out after only the first semester of high school did not stop him from aiming high and dreaming big. In the following 7 years, he completed high school, college and graduate studies in English language by himself while working as an accomplished high-school English teacher for 4 years.His business career started in 1992 as Secretary to GM with a Sino-Spanish JV in Huizhou, Guangdong. Despite this humble beginning, he worked hard through corporate ranks and eventually became one of the highest ranking Chinese nationals in Sony and DuPont. Looking back at his career and life, Gary contributed his success to a burning desire to make a difference in everything he does. He actually thinks what Larry Page, Google's co-founder, says about Google's success best sums up his values and beliefs: "Optimism is important. You have to be a little silly about the goals you're going to set. There is a phrase I learned in college called, 'Having a healthy disregard for the impossible,' that is a really good phrase. You should try to do things that most people would not."In April 2006, after 14 years with corporate, he followed his heart and founded MindSpan. Motivated by his goal to run 100 marathons before age of 80, he has run 28 marathons and 275 half marathons despite a few body disadvantages.
