Gary has over 30 years of experience working collaboratively with community, industry, and government across a broad range of sectors to achieve strategic social, economic, and environmental outcomes. As a community economic development practitioner, he understands the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders in the development of long-term sustainable solutions. Gary has been directly involved in initiatives across urban and rural settings in Canada and the United States, including numerous successful projects while working in northern Canada. He has worked extensively, in both a leadership and advisory capacity, with Aboriginal Governments and communities to undertake community-based research and then strategically develop and deliver policy, programs and services across a wide range of issues and needs. He has diverse experience with self-governing, treaty, and non-treaty First Nations on significant projects in resource development, construction, and economic development.Gary has broad experience in engagement consultation whether through a vast range of regional/community research initiatives. This includes the design and development of stakeholder engagement plans, evaluation frameworks, and research tools. He has also facilitated numerous workshops, community consultation meetings, and focus groupsGary has extensive experience in housing and infrastructure developments. He has been involved in projects related to aging in place, individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities, homelessness ,and the vulnerably housed. While in northern Canada he worked closely with all levels of government to ensure sound strategic investment in community infrastructure including asset management and capital planning initiatives. He is effective at leveraging project funding from government, foundations and industry and has worked closely with municipal, provincial/territorial, federal governments to support a breadth of initiatives.
