Omni is the UK’s leading independent provider of resourcing transformation and outsourced recruitment services.I joined Omni as an embedded recruiter working on behalf of Ofcom, specifically hired to help in their requirement to meet the government's remit of being the regulator for various online activities.With over two decades in technology recruitment, I assisted Ofcom in staffing up for the Telecoms Security Act and the Online Safety Act. All areas required a level of niche skills that Ofcom had never previously recruited to and I achieved great success by adopting a lateral approach to the skills/knowledge search.Many of the online safety roles involved finding people from an ML/AI background (Algorithmic Audit, Computer Vision, Recommender Systems et al) who were open to using their knowledge in a non-production environment, researching emerging technology to help make internet usage safer.Ofcom also use data as method to underpin some of their online safety efforts and as a broader competency throughout the entire business. In that frame, I helped locate a range of data people from Engineers to Data Scientists to Strategy Leads reporting directly to the CDO.Ofcom now has the knowledge and talent needed to meet the remit it has been given regarding these most recent Acts of Parliament with Omni winning award at industry level for this work.I remain focused on Data/AI as a vertical market whilst now working with a breadth of different clients.Notable achievements include: Received an internal award usually given to client employees.Sourcing PhD educated ‘Technologist’ within several different areas of AI. Sourced, below industry pay average security advisors for a critical function.Improved the D&I statistics for several senior appointments.Challenged ‘status-quo’ approach to several elements of client’s thinking in the hiring process

Partnering with C-Gov, Regulators, ALB's and respective technical/policy support providers in the constant requirement of acquiring the best talent to work within public sector services, ensuring that our money is well utilised for our current and future needs.All areas of the public sector are facing challenges of one sort or another e.g., Cost Improvement Measures, Austerity, Modernisation, EU Exit implications and COVID-19 and Net Zero. At Reed, I transitioned from the private to public sector and at the same time moved my knowledge base from being mostly technology orientated to encompass a variety of public sector needs with an emphasis on the enforcement/justice sector. As such, account management and service delivery were an ever-present feature of my work as I combined managing client needs with building a team, capable of doing the same. This has resulted in former colleagues moving on to become Senior Business Managers at Reed and Talent Acquisition specialists for HMG.Alongside this, I covered standard recruitment functions including; client presentations, networking events and service level meetings all of which allowed me to enhance my communication and interpersonal skills.
