Whether it’s refinishing my basement or helping a business owner grow their company, I like to build things. As a CPA, Partner, and Business Advisory Director with Creative Planning for Business Services, I get the pleasure of helping clients build and manage their companies with an eye toward profitability. I work with professional services, real estate and construction owner-managed companies.My background is in tax, but the work I focus on with my clients goes well beyond just tax compliance. I believe that for businesses to progress, they need an advisor that is looking at all areas of their financial health. I perform the traditional tax and accounting services. However, in many instances I also act as an outsourced CFO and ongoing advisor to the business owners I work alongside. For example, I recently worked with a medical practice group that was failing to help them turn the organization into a successful profitable group. In 6 months we were able to get them from a loss to a profit. Today, this group is thriving and expanding their practice. I am an active leader in my profession and belong to the AICPA’s Tax section, personal financial planning section and the Information Management and Technology Assurance Section. I am also active in the Missouri Society of CPAs. In the community, I serve on the Board of Directors for John Knox Village, the Board of Directors for St. Lukes East Hospital, the Administrative Council for the Harrisonville United Methodist Church, and am a member of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.When I am not building a company or working on my next home project, you can usually find me cooking (or BBQ smoking) and spending time with my family.
