Gary is a registered nurse, aspiring flight nurse, and 2020 graduate of the E.C.H.O. Future Flight Crew Academy, a 10-month intensive academy designed to prepare aspiring flight nurses and paramedics for careers in HEMS. He holds a bachelor's of nursing from Radford University and a bachelor's degree in communication from Virginia Tech. He is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT). Gary holds current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS). He is also a certified American Heart Association BLS instructor. Prior to his medical career, Gary was an award-winning writer and journalist with a diverse professional background that includes broadcast and print journalism, corporate communications, higher education, web and social media development, and video production.He is the recipient of a C.A.S.E. Grand Award in the category "Writing for the Web," one of four total C.A.S.E. awards.
