I am a highly experienced and passionate originator and deliverer, and have been responsible for some of the BBC’s most successful international factual formats including Coast, Last Man Standing, SAS Are You Tough Enough?, and of course Top Gear, as well as launching Heston, Hammond and a slew of the other big factual talent. My BBC days ended with the Emmy award winning feature documentary, Space Dive, a five year collaboration between the BBC, NatGeo, and Red Bull.I started off directing on the BAFTA winning, ‘The Clothes Show’ and followed up with 15 years series producing and directing on features including Rough Guide to the World, Challenge Anneka, and Time Team as well as co-developing Scrapheap Challenge.My time as BBC staff began with developing and Series Producing SAS: Are You Tough Enough? This lead to a request from the Controller to lead the re-formatting of Top Gear. As a keen cyclist and not much into cars, I passed. I was persuaded otherwise, and went on to develop and relaunch one of the world’s biggest and most lucrative TV brands.As well as regular BBC Exec duties, I was on the London Factual Leadership Team, the steering group for the BBC’s Digital Media Initiative, BBC Technology Direction, BBC Creative Futures – Knowledge Building, Multi-Platform Communications & Capability Steering Group and Sport & Comic Relief Steering Groups.I’m now delighted to be at the helm of Wild Blue Media, which seeks to deliver entirely new looks to factual and adventure series for both domestic and international audiences.
