As a key member of the CFO’s management team, performed many duties often beyond the scope of a typical controller’s position.

Post University

Partnered with Chief Financial Officer of for-profit university with 8.3K students and $90M operating budget to assess institutional value of each academic and career training program offered. Analyzed data sets from core offices, including Information Technology, and identified relevant sources. Performed data cleansing. Synthesized metrics to generate meaningful information about key financial drivers.

Operated as the chief financial officer for Graduate School of Education and Human Development, while playing a key operational and strategic role in accomplishing the priorities of the university. Oversaw and consistently delivered timely and accurate financial information and business advice to the leaders of the school, including the Dean, associate deans, department chairs, center directors, and faculty principal investigators. A recognized trusted expert in university policies which provided guidance on procedures in the use of enterprise systems for faculty and staff. Directed and supervised the fiscal operations of the entire school comprised of five academic departments and five research centers/institutes. Proactively maintained awareness of school/department projects, initiatives, and partnership relations. Responsible for the directing the school-wide annual budget call process, accounting, purchasing, payroll, human resources, graduate student enrollment projections and financial aid, and grants management administration.

Performed the duties of a Grants and Contracts Officer, which successfully brought all sponsored project financial reports, invoices, and outstanding receivables, resulting with fiscal year-end up billings that were up-to date for the first time in recent history. Provided faculty researchers with pre and post award extramural sponsored project support in a large research center to enable them the time to further their research endeavors.
