In May 2015 I relocated to Dubai to take up a role as Director of Professional Development and Assessment at PwC’s Academy and in July 2022 was made a Partner. My responsibilities include designing and delivering training programmes and assessments in financial reporting, digital transformation, external and internal audit, assurance, business and financial risk, board effectiveness, management information, VAT, strategic thinking, sustainability and ESG, executive coaching and leadership development programmes and behavioural skills training across the Gulf region.I joined ICAEW in 2009 and was appointed as Director of Qualifications in March 2010 where I was responsible for all qualifications including the flagship ACA qualification. I was involved in a number of World Bank funded twinning projects involving the training of trainers in the delivery of IFRS worldwide. I was also a regular media commentator on skills, training and qualifications. Prior to joining ICAEW, I was a lecturer in financial reporting, auditing and financial management and Director of Finance and Tax programmes at BPP Professional Education. After graduating from Bristol University in 1995 with an honours degree in Economics and Accounting, I qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand (now PwC) and worked extensively in the UK and South Africa. I am an experienced executive and sports coach, and have delivered technical and behavioural training to over 30,000 students and delegates from over 5,000 organisations during my 25+ years as a trainer, consultant and business leader.Training others is my passion. Throughout my career I have always sought opportunities to develop others. In addition to the my roles as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, I have also worked as a civilian instructor for the Royal Marines and RAF, and worked as a specialist advisor to both the British and the US Armies. I have also been a netball and Women’s’ rugby coach from social to elite level as well as practicing and training others in mixed martial arts.
