As a Political Staff Writer for the Kentucky Kernel, I am responsible for writing articles pertaining to the political landscape of Kentucky politics, and national politics at large. Given that I started this role during a presidential election year, I am focused on reporting surrounding the presidential candidates, as well as high profile races around the country.

I worked in the Kenwick Community Center to design medium-length programs, short-term activities, and overarching outreach projects for the community we served. These included summer camps, game nights, sports activities, and community meetings. I also assisted the center director in the day-to-day functions of the center, such as working the weekly events, supervising the patrons, and interacting with center staff from other centers.

I worked with professional staff to carry out the day-to-day functions of the office. I also researched topics relating to the senator's main interests, as well as working through constituent concerns as they came to the office. This was paired with taking notes during committee hearings that pertained to the interests of the senator and his legislative goals.

I assisted with the creation of communication work for the organization on multiple social media platforms. I also attended meetings in both committee, and with individual elected representatives to discuss the goals of the lobbying organization as they related to proposed legislation.
