I created the US AFRICOM Intelligence IT architecture (AIE), appendix 12, which is a series of principles, guidelines, and rules used by US AFRICOM to direct the process of acquiring, building, modifying, and interfacing IT resources throughout the enterprise to support the analysis, production, and dissemination of intelligence products. Documenting US ARFICOM architecture involved collaborating internally with the ACJ2 and externally with the ACJ6, DIA CIO1, and subordinate commands to identify key communication channels, IT Networks, and business processes that allow the ACJ2 to execute its Intelligence mission and Align to the Combatant Commander’s vision. I championed and implemented the enterprise cross-domain solution (CDS) for the DISA Unified Video Dissemination System (UVDS) at US AFRICOM for our ADSN networks. This action expanded the capability of US AFRICOM to support simultaneous full-motion video (FMV) feeds from nearly 200 sources and routes the video to users through DISA’s satellite communication gateways and the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN). Converting from the GDIT one-way tap solution to a Department of Defense (DOD) enterprise implementation improved the reliability and cybersecurity for transporting FMV collected for AFRICOM ISR.
