My professional career started with a Toolmaking apprenticeship through Clipsal, being based in Strathalbyn, in a small factory, I was exposed not only to toolmaking but a wide variety of other trade requirements. From general building maintenance to moulding machine installation to manufacturing equipment design/ manufacture. Culminating in a year of being the leading hand of a team of 12 consisting of toolmakers electricians and Fitters.The next stage of my life led me to SMR automotive where I began work as a toolmaker, after a short time an opportunity arose for me to spend a year working as a Manufacturing Engineer to facilitate the installation of a major production line.Once that project was complete I moved into the design department. Designing a variety of components for the automotive/ medical industry. My Trade experience has led me to design not only manufacturable components but also prototypes, handling and test equipment. My experience involved everything from moldflow analysis, to project managing small volume production runs, and sometimes even manufacture my own prototypes.Spending time in the automotive and medical design fields I have been exposed to working with tight regulations with products that vary from very low production numbers to volumes in the millions.
