From 2015 Shared Regulatory Services became operative. I am still continuing my role in the health, safety and communicable disease team, but covering 3 local authority areas instead of just Cardiff.

Senior Environmental Health Officer within the Health & Safety Enforcement and Communicable Disease Team at Cardiff Council- Lead Officer for Asthetic Body Modification & Cosmetic Piercing- Lead Officer in enforcement of the Health Act 2006 and Smoke Free Premises (Wales) Regulations 2007;- I act as lead officer on behalf of the Events Liaison Panel by liaising with event promoters/organisers, arrange and attend site visits, attend the event to ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to and coordinate any necessary debrief sessions;- I carry out planned inspections of priority risk rated workplaces and activities in accordance with the Council’s current Health and Safety Service Plan;-I monitor and carry out revisits to premises to check for compliance with legislation and take appropriate enforcement action;-I receive and investigate all requests for service in connection to complaints of premises and workplaces for which the Council is the enforcing authority;-I investigate reportable workplace injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences and take appropriate enforcement action;-I approve as appropriate all permissioning requests from employers and contractors in respect of work with asbestos; -I examine planning applications and building regulation applications for matters of relevance for compliance with all food legislation; the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, relevant statutory provisions and guidelines.- I compile and maintain a register of cooling towers and evaporative condensers; - I plan and organise a schedule of water samples from workplaces to monitor compliance with the relevant statutory provisons;-I carry out all projects and surveys entered into by the Council with the Health and Safety Executive in the Project Partnerships in the New Ways of Working.

My role involved administering and enforcing all licensing functions dealt with by the Council under local and national legislation, in particular The Licensing Act 2003- I ensured the proper receipt and determination of licensing applications, made representations on those applications for the information of the Licensing Committee and enforced all conditions and regulations appertaining to the Licensing functions of the Council;- I dealt with complaints and enquiries received concerning persons, premises and vehicles who were licensed by the Council;- I carried out random inspections, spot checks of licensed vehicles and took part in outside surveillance of taxicab and private hire vehicles, their drivers, street traders, collectors or entertainments. I worked with other agencies in carrying out these duties such as South Wales Police and Trading Standards;- I undertook inspections of premises including those used by or for private hire operators, selling alcohol, providing regulated entertainment, late night food, gaming machines, pet shops etc. and examined relevant documentation and records.

My role was to gain relevant hand on experience in all areas of Environmental Health, which included Food Safety, Health and Safety, Housing and Environmental Protection in order to successfully complete my undergraduate degree. - I assisted officers in the enforcement of all the Acts of Parliament, Orders, Rules and Regulations;- I assisted officers in planned visits and inspections of premises in accordance with work programmes to ensure that legislation was enforced;- I assisted in the investigation and preparation of reports on complaints and accidents and initiated appropriate action, including the service of statutory notices under appropriate legislation, and prepared evidence and other material for the instigation of legal proceedings and to give evidence in court;
