I work at all points operationally at the castle, no two days ever being the same-tour guiding in the secret war time tunnels as well as being by rota in day to day charge of them, driving the land train and on site transport, staffing admissions points and assisting with retail operations, researching and conducting special tours of various parts of the site including the cold war tunnels, assisting with film crews, and with the marketing and promotion of EH and the site. In the winter months whilst the site is closed during week days, I assist the curatorial team with the management of the refurbishment of the Great Tower, contacting and managing contractors, advising re budget expenditure and communicating with all site staff and managers.

I worked in a wide variety of roles both professional and managerial in Kent Libraries. My professional background was mainly in reference, information and local studies work, and I was County Subject Specialist for Poetry and Literature between 1995 and 1996. I finished my career with KCC as Area Manager for East Kent Libraries, Museums and Archives, responsible for services in the districts of Canterbury, Dover, Thanet and Swale
