As the P&L Owner for the Parker Kittiwake business unit, spanning 3 UK locations, I was responsible for delivering on the businesses vision, strategy & goals.These goals included delivering double digit profitable growth & ensuring a safe working environment where people could flourish.My role encompassed the management of all functions within the unit.

The Kittiwake group of companies manufacture instrumentation & sensors used for condition monitoring of lubricants, detection of machinery condition & emissions monitoring. Revenues, approaching £15M per annum, are primarily from product sales but also includes field service/support and customer funded R&D. The global Kittiwake team, including overseas offices, now consists of around 100 people.Responsible for the co-ordination of manufacturing, operations & logistics excellence at the three UK manufacturing sites & group wide. Each company uses lean methodologies to improve operational performance focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery & inventory to deliver increasing profits to the bottom line. Supplier partnerships are both UK based & international, utilising off-shored production & 3rd Party logistics where appropriate. Manufacturing pull systems, visual management & continuous improvement under pin all of the above allowing the business units to grow without scaling direct costs & overheads commensurately.As the Kittiwake group has grown it became necessary to ensure that team building & staff development plans were implemented at HQ, allowing the team continuing opportunities to develop their careers, skill sets and to increase their own areas of responsibility. Our success comes from the teams we have built.

Shareholders formed a Senior Management Team of which I was part. Revenues at now around £6M pa. In addition to previous responsibilities this role change now introduced responsibility for R&D Management, Internal Sales & Order Processing, Quality & Conformance.

Joined Kittiwake when the company turned around £2.5M per annum and consisted of around 20 people. Opportunity was identified to introduce lean manufacturing methodologies to move the business from "batch" to "flow" & from "build-to-stock" to "build-to-order".Trained & developed the team to run Kanban and implemeted supplier partnering to create a solid manufacturing foundation using 5S, Visual Management, Work Cells, Flow improvements, Team Building & Empowerment.Dealt with the relocation & production integration of the Analex instrumentation range to Kittiwake post acquisition.

Originally part of the Eurotherm group, later BTR Siebe/Invensys. Responsible for production on several high volume electronics assembly lines. Mentored other team leaders. Introduced to TPM/TQM, gained Six Sigma greenbelt, ran numerous sucessful blitz Kaizen events.
