Skillflip is an online hub that connects teachers with students. Independent teachers create class listings for free, with beautiful photos and reviews from verified students. Prospective students can browse classes on offer in their area, read reviews, and book a place online. In development of the business, I was involved in Web Design, Back-end Programming, Database Design, Market Research and Development, Sales and Marketing, Accounting and Invoicing.

Promax PX is a market leader in Trade Promotion Management and Optimisation software.I started off doing mostly software development, working with C++, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, and the Bazaar DVCS. Innovations included a deployment tool for distributing SSRS Reports to clients, and a visual tool for performing cherry pick merging to create customised customer release builds. Both of these tools were written with C#.After mastering the code base I started performing customer requirements elicitation, and authoring of requirements specification and technical specification documents.I later moved to a Team Leader role which involved managing a team of five. Responsibilities included personnel management, job management, and training & development of programmers. During this time, I was also involved in implementing a continuous integration system. The automated build solution was instrumental in the success of a number of high pressure implementations.

Shop Around is an energy comparison site that allows consumers to predict their energy bill costs with different suppliers, and switch energy providers by filling out and online form.Working in C# and ASP.Net, special care was given to providing an excellent user experience in what can be a very complicated process. Innovations during this time included server-side viewstate; the post-redirect-get pattern for postbacks; and automated compression, versioning, and far future caching of static resources. None of this functionality was available in ASP.Net at the time but is now standard fare in modern frameworks.
