The apprenticeship provides experience across a broad spectrum of manufacturing support functions. I have undertaken placements in the folowing functions, across the A320 and A330 programmes.DesignProviding design solutions to production issues to ensure product meets design intentCompletion of a Product Development task involving the consolidation of a number of parts to better utilise current machining technology, reduce assembly time, weight and cost of the product.Manufacturing EngineeringSupport the introduction of a new drilling process to the shop floor, including the development of suitable transport and storage media, contributing to service, maintenance and usage documentation and ensuring that all stakeholders were satisfied with the performance during the trail period.Working with suppliers in the implementation of new jig storage media in support of the new drilling process, including agreement of the media design and resolution of all issues once the media was delivered, prior to introduction to the production line.Programme PlanningDaily update tasks linked to the scheduling of production and the forecast of output.Liasing with production management to ensure data is current and accurateQualityParticipation in a number of projects to identify non-conforming part supply which included considerable part inspection activities.Communication with suppliers providing evidence of non-conformanceContribution to Root Cause Analysis tasks in pursuit of complex issue resolutionDesign EnablementLong term placement providing production with support in resolving Design for Manufacture anomilies on new aircraft developments such as A320 NEO and the A330 WV80Use of CATIA to obtain data for the analysis of parts against the design intent
