Initially hired to manage the team responsible for external relationships with the National Paralympic Committees (NPCs). Promoted in late 2018 to Project Director of Coordination, a new role created to provide advice to senior managers/management. More recently, assumed responsibility for communications with the 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and 182 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs).Until March 2020, role was similar to previous positions at other organising committees and involved setting up the department and recruiting/training the team to act as representatives for NOCs/NPCs. This includes day-to-day communication, issue resolution and helping NOCs/NPCs prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Games. Internally the team works with 40+ departments, ensuring that service levels are scoped according to athlete needs and delivered within agreed budgets.Following postponement of the Games, the scope changed, and the Communications team was at the heart of this restructure. In addition to crisis communications with stakeholders, a revised communications plan was launched within days. The NPC Relations team also implemented an improved engagement strategy, taking into account client feedback and adapting that to new circumstances.

Headhunted to help the NOC & NPC Relations team through a challenging phase in the run-up to the Games, including advisory work relating to athlete service levels. Developed and maintained relationships with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as well as the 92 NOCs and 49 NPCs that participated in the Games. Also, represented the organising committee at stakeholder conferences and events.Oversaw the implementation of the delegation registration processes, including unprecedented cases with countries that were suspended or had not signed a peace treaty with the host nation.Managed the team responsible for the transfer of 3,000+ athletes to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, in challenging weather conditions.

Recruited the team responsible for relations and services for the 62 NOCs from Asia and Oceania that participated in the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, Turkmenistan’s first multi-sport event.Implemented the client communications and engagement programme, ensuring that all participating countries and territories received accurate and timely information to assist with their preparations.Set up and launched an extranet, with all the latest information, secure pages for each committee and interactive registration forms for forthcoming events.Organised an Open Day, including venue tours and operational presentations, and acted as a test event for the Chefs de Mission Seminar.

Responsible for the services provided to 206 NOCs and 176 NPCs before and during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, including:- Communications for athletes/team officials, including weekly communications, newsletters, presentations and operational guides in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.- Organisation of 185 pre-Games operational visits, with up to 100 delegates per visit.- Two high-profile week-long seminars for representatives from up to 206 nations, including full programme of presentations, venue tours, cultural events and formal evening receptions.- Interviewing, recruitment and training of 1,800+ volunteers who acted as assistants to each team, providing language, administrative and support during ceremonies.- Pre-Games training camp programme in Brazil, with 164 venues in 17 cities and 72 states.Operated a Games-time services centre with 80 staff for the 206 Olympic and 176 Paralympic teams representing the 15,000+ athletes and officials (24-hour operation with 600+ visitors daily).Managed daily meetings with the heads of each team, with simultaneous interpretation, including issue resolution and post-meeting report production with input and approval from stakeholders.

Reviewed, edited and advised the organising committee on pre-Games operational manuals and presentations/materials for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.Copy writing and editing of explanatory guides for each winter sport as well as newsletters for national and international sport federations.

April 2009 - September 2012Project managed the communications, publications and digital media for athletes/team officials, including operational manuals and volunteer training materials.Created and maintained a series of dedicated extranets for NOCs/NPCs, which were the most widely used extranets for the London 2012 Games.Responsible for external presentations for international forums and pre-Games seminars for 800+ delegates (production of audio-visual materials, publications, briefing packs).Developed the athlete client strategy and led on Games-time operational policies and procedures, ensuring that service levels were appropriate.At Games time, responsible for capturing and escalating issues for the athlete client group, ensuring that expedited workarounds were implemented and reported during daily briefings with the heads of each teamJanuary 2004 - March 2009Organised photo calls and media briefings during the campaign to bring the Olympic Games to London in 2012. Managed a busy press office and media operations for the London 2012 bid announcement and handover from Beijing 2008, including logistics, interviews, photo calls and press conferences. Event management for a variety of communications partners, including press conferences, political briefings and community engagement forums.Established and managed a speakers’ bureau to engage with stakeholders, partner organisations and communities across the nations and regions of the UK. Also, prepared presentations and messaging for the Chair, Chief Executive and other senior representatives.

Seconded to the Vancouver 2010 committee to set up and run a services centre in the Whistler Olympic Village, for mountain sport athletes and team officials. Trained and managed a team of 20 volunteers responsible for front-of-house assistance and issue resolution across a range of Games operational areas.Assisted with the planning and delivery of safe and smooth transfers of 2,500 athletes from the Olympic Villages to the Closing Ceremony.
