Specific responsibilities for all military matters surrounding personnel policy, welfare, medical services, and operational advice. Support to the Minister with defence matters in Parliament, all correspondence, parliamentary questions and debates. Accompanying officer on overseas operational visits to and home based forces. Support to Minister for media engagement and briefings in advance of major media interviews. Supported transition to embed a new Minister post government reshuffle in Autumn 2008.

Command of a 650 strong wing, comprising of four operational squadrons operating throughout the UK and overseas. Squadrons held a permanent presence in two deployed operational theatres (Iraq and Afghanistan), multiple sites within the middle east and maintained a 24/7 standing commitment to support the UK counter-terrorist task.Delivered significant change programmes within the two year tour utilising lean principles. Result was a signifcant upshift in operational capability. Developed new sustainable approach to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan whilst reducing costs to the RAF.Annual operational expenditure of £10m.Part of the station management board responsible for over 2,000 personnel and the development and implementation of a change programme to transition from a fast jet station to a station that supported global logistic operations.

Chief of Staff to a newly formed strategy team charged with developing the future vision for the RAF (2020 and beyond) and the Future Air and Space Operational Concept - an articulation of future air doctrine. This was a strategically chosen team of high performing Wing Commanders and above to form and develop the documents in a short timescale. This was achieved.Particular personal emphasis was on a comprehensive engagement strategy addressing the full spectrum of UK and international issues.Led and coordinated the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme that took MPs and Lords and placed them into the RAF for 20 days a year to increase understanding and promote a better informed debate in parliament.

Responsible for 140+ ground-crew and personnel to maintain 10 Harrier aircrafts and hold a high readiness posture to deploy worldwide. Operated on land or embarked on RN aircraft carriers. Integral to the squadrons management team and operational planning and execution. Held full airworthiness accountability and maintenance planning. This tour included the 2003 Operation Telic 1 - Iraq.
