I undertook a one year full-time industrial placement within this world famous hotel, subsequently being offered the opportunity to remain after my placement period had ended. My position was focused on customer service, people management and managing departments including restaurants, bars, events and functions. My duties and responsibilities included: direct communication with customers, meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations, managing members of staff, working alongside high profile events such as Miss Northern Ireland and MTV EMA official post award party. From June 2012 until Sept 2012, I assisted the Marketing department within Hastings Hotels Head Office by running the Europa Hotel Twitter account as part of their continuing digital marketing campaign. Over this period, I was able to help gain an extra 500 followers.

Monitoring and updating of Larne Swimming Club's social media activities. - promotion of the existence of the club beyond its natural boundaries; - encouraging engagement between members and prospective members; - spread the benefits of the club without any cost to the club; - making connections with other businesses and cementing relationships with them, which could potentially further support the club.Larne Swimming Club’s Social Media activities can be found at www.facebook.com/larneswimmingclub and @LarneSwimClub on Twitter.As a direct result of the above activities and campaigns, the club received a large, multi-year sponsorship deal from a multinational firm. Handover of social media activities was successfully undertaken, ensuring that the concept behind their creation and ongoing development was explained to those taking up the task.

I have been a member of Larne Swimming Club since 10 years of age. Becoming involved with the running of the club has allowed me to give back to the sport, providing the views, thoughts and experience of an athlete, contrasting those of parents and non-athletes.
