Now a Principal, System Administration at the world's largest single-site cheese plant in Hilmar California, and a cheese plant in Dalhart Texas.Hilmar Cheese completed (started in March, 2012) a full go-live of our new SAP environment on October 1st, 2015. This was a greenfield implementation (big bang approach) using SAP HANA 1.0 for our SoH, SCM, and BW systems. As Principal, I manage the installation, upgrades and maintenance of the HANA databases and HANA SQL. I upgraded HANA 1.0 to HANA 2.0 SP05 in 2020, for our four SAP environments (SBX, DEV, QAS & PRD). We are in full production using VMware 6.5, SuSE for SAP 12.4, and the TDI model for all of our HANA environments.Also, during blueprinting and realization, I was a key member in designing our hardware infrastructure for SQL Server databases, HANA databases, applications and disaster recovery for SoH and HANA. I have also implemented HANA Synchronous System Replication to our DR site for our PRD SoH System, tested and documented takeover/failback processes for both DB and Apps.I write SQL and analytic views for analytics, using SAP LT for real-time data acquisition for Excel pivot tables with HANA ODBC. I am also a Tableau administrator which we also use for self-service analytics. along with SAP BW, and BOBJ reporting.SQL Server is our other database platform from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2016. I write SQL scripts, triggers and stored procedures. I set up server environments for all DEV, QAS and PRD SQL Server databases.I was a lead member in creating our first true data warehouse before SAP, using SQL Server 2012 and SSAS taking data from our old ERP and other systems into one cohesive data structure linking all related areas in one DW and cube. This has now been replaced with SAP BW, Tableau, and BOBJ tools.

Worked first as a contractor then in November, 2005 became a full-time Microsoft employee. My main tasks were to look after a few large (400-700GB) SQL Server databases (their data warehouses) by keeping them up-to-date with delta and full data loads from their source systems. While I was not an official DBA, I looked after these databases the same way a DBA would (I was a DBA in my previous position at BC Rail) and was solely responsible for their security. I created many SQL scripts and procedures to handle these multiple daily data refreshes, DB backups and maintenance activities. I also looked after some of their other in-house systems such as their X-Box sales system.

During my 23+ years at BC Rail, I was a DBA/Sr. DBA for about 20 of those years.I looked after DEC VAX/VMS servers and their DBMS and RDB databases (both Network Codasyl and Relational) for the entire 20 years and then onto the Microsoft platform using SQL Server 6.5-2000 for the latter 10 years. During this time, I created many database designs, coded many SQL scripts and stored procedures (for the VAX and SQL platforms) and involved in every project that required a database.Also participated in our first data warehouse using SQL Server and SSAS. This was my first experience in data warehousing.
