I am a project manager with an IT and engineering background who is coming to the end of a project support role at an energy from waste development in Grangemouth.Most recently I have provided short-term cover for a thermal insulation specialist in their role at Grangemouth’s new energy-from-waste facility. Previous to this I was owner and operator of a successful charter boat service based near Oban. Before pursuing my dream to work the waters of the west coast of Scotland I managed the development of various space-flight hardware for Clyde Space, this included solar panels and safe-for-human-flight batteries for clients including NASA. Early in my career I worked within a Microsoft consultancy providing both technical input on web development and SharePoint projects and as well as developing my project support experience within their PMO.I am a PRINCE2 practitioner qualified since 2011 and ISO 9001:2015-aware having taken part in training and then prepped the Clyde Space PMO for official ISO 9001 audits. I am organised and demonstrate attention to detail in my work. I have good knowledge of IT hardware and software as well as in-depth understanding of Microsoft Office particularly Excel (inc. VBA macros) and MS Project and Visio too. I am a former SharePoint 2010/Online consultant meaning I have a good understanding of best practices for document management, metadata, workflows and forms. In my earlier years I learned emergent web development technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and SQL.

In my time running my own business I built/refurbished two MGN 280 coded charter boats from bare hulls with a max capacity of 12 passengers. Project Coordinator / Project Manager

Initially I provided project coordinator and IT support, I implemented SharePoint Online for the business including forms and workflows for holiday requests, sickness/return to work and purchase orders, also created the project site template with input from the PMO team. I also managed the overall project status report used by the PMO and reported up to board level on a monthly basis. This report was refined with use of VBA macros allowing for shorter reporting times even with 4-5 times the number of active projects.After handing over the IT support role I progressed to full time project manager and I successfully managed “modified standards” a class of high volume product based on existing designs. During this time I worked closely with the production and test managers to help define their SOPs and streamline the processes associated with these common hardware types. Over time this class of product was taken over by a new recruit and I began to focus on a more highly customised level of project. This required managing the full project life cycle from accepting handovers from sales, developing MS Project plans, maintaining RAID register, initial plus on-going stakeholder communication via email, conference calls and site visits, supplier management for any customised hardware and chairing various project check-point/review meetings until the product was ultimately deemed fully functional and ready to ship. Due to the nature of some hardware, export control laws were critical to ensuring that all hardware and / or recipients were legal and not subject to any export controls beyond the export licences held.
