Born in Caracas, Venezuela and actually living in Paris, Carolina graduated as an architect at the Central University of Venezuela. Her range of work varies between Art, Architecture and Design combining different disciplines with ethics, environmental and a social drive. She reuses and recycles materials to create urban and interior spaces, furnishings, exhibitions, installations and ephemeral events that provide an original artistic dimension. She participated in the design team of the Urban Physical Up-Grading Program of the Venezuelan slums for 10 years. This program included: urban design, infrastructure and community equipments, as well as community empowerment and upcycling as a survival tool to construct. Founded LOCAL, a space created for pioneering artists in Contemporary Art in Venezuela and Barbarella an event-planning company which provides up-cycled furniture and ephemeral spaces by integrating various creative disciplines. Carolina moved to Paris where she currently lives. She has been part of the international art, design & cultural ecosystem, participating in exhibitions as an artist/designer “New Territories: Laboratories for Design, Craft and Art in Latin America (MAD Museum of Arts & Design,NY) and curator of the pioneer Sustainable Design and Artistic Exhibition “Nouvelles Vies” at Le French Design by VIA. She also led the R&D lab “Disruption towards a sustainable design : a prospective study to imagine 2059” along with a top international council of experts and well-known personalities in the design world to reflect on the sustainable transformation of the industry.
