EnglishGeert Devos is professor of Educational Administration at the Department of Educational Studies, Ghent University. He leads the Centre of Schoolleadership and Educational Policy. The research of this centre considers policy issues at the school level, the regional level and the macro level.At the school level studies are focused on school leadership, school development, school culture and HRM. Here, principals and teachers are the key actors.Schools operate in a wider context. Therefore, the Centre analyses the performance of school boards, school networks and the so-called school groups in Flemish education.At the macro-level, studies are aimed at understanding the governance of educational systems (both Flemish education and international educational systems), issues of decentralization, school autonomy, accountability and marketmechanisms.The centre is involved in fundamental research and in educational policy evaluation studies. A main priority of the centre is to dessiminate the study results to schools and teachers. Also, the Centre considers it as an important task to act as an objective expert agency for the different key actors in Flemish education. International cooperation is another key objective to carry out comparative educational studies.
