As a PhD in Botany and Forest Engineering, I am passionate about the wonders of making science within tropical forests. My current work (at the University of São Paulo and the University of Stirling) is focused on monitoring secondary forests to support public policies in Brazil. My previous research has focused on the impact of climate, fire and hydroelectric dams on igapó (floodplain forest) in Central Amazonia, using techniques like dendroecology and remote sensing. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work at the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA), with a sandwich period at the University of Arkansas (USA) and a research stay at the Max Planck Institute in Biogeochemistry (Jena, Germany). My interests lie in forest ecology, remote sensing applied to vegetation, secondary forests, Amazonia, Atlantic Forests, dendrochronology, forest disturbances, public policies, etc.
