As part of the Digital Literacy program in development at the University of Wollongong, I worked in a small team to produce resources and conduct workshops which form the Peer-Led Software Support Program on campus from Spring session 2015 onwards. In 2016, I have worked within a smaller team to create digital media related Moodle workshops to be used by both Wollongong and regional campus facilitators, while also facilitating learning experiences for students on-campus.

During my time with Compass Group I have worked casually as a barista at several Sydney CBD sites, such as QBE Parramatta, the Australian Museum and Gilbert & Tobin Lawyers, as well as at Compass’ Coles Balgowlah site, where I worked as one of a small group of baristas in the Patisserie (a Coles concept, one of 4 in Australia), working independently of the Kitchen, managing all coffee making and patisserie sales.Upon transferring to Wollongong sites, I have worked both in University of Wollongong student accomodation sites Marketview and Campus East, and at the Wollongong Hospital site, working with a diverse range of fellow baristas and chefs.

As Communications Manager for I Am A Boat Person, I managed a team of enthusiastic volunteers, working closely with them to form marketing strategies across IAABP's varied social media platforms, create high quality editorial and visual content, and maintained a consistently approachable personality for the charity. Additionally, I work closely with the Director and Projects Manager to ensure that our charitable work is communicated accurately across all platforms, as well as formulating new ways to convey the stories and experiences of refugees in detention. I also liaised with representatives from other businesses and organisations to form collaborations, as well as planning local events, such as IAABP's #UOWLostChildren initiative in partnership with Amnesty International UOW. In past years working as IAABP's Comms Manager, I participated in an online debate moderated by Vibewire as a panelist representing the organisation on the subject of asylum seeker policy and immigration in Australia with fellow panelists Joe Hildebrand from the Daily Telegraph, and Sara Saleh and Graeme McGregor from Amnesty International. I also represented the organization as a Facilitator at the Sutherland Shire Amplify Youth Leadership forum.

As Youeni Foodstore, Surry Hills, was transformed into Foundry, rebranded by Youeni Agency and manager Ky Haus, I worked as part-time Chef as the menu was revamped to reflect a street-food vibe, still with a consistent focus on fresh, local produce and creative flavours. During my time at Foundry I worked with both the Youeni Team, and a new team as the Surry Hills store changed hands. I also worked with the new owners to provide customers, who were predominantly on-the-go businessmen and women, with new, healthier options which catered to a desire to have access to quick, yet still nutritious and imaginative, meals.

Darlinghurst & Surry Hills

While working with the team at Youeni, I performed the role of Host/Waitress initially and moved to the role of part-time Chef in the latter stages of Chris Starke's ownership of both the Darlinghurst and Surry Hills branches. While working as Host, I welcomed customers to the cafe, provided them with both counter and table service, and processed POS payments. I also filled the role of Kitchen Hand at the cafes at the same time as working as Host, helping with food preparation and washing and cleaning all service equipment, as well as preparing coffees for customers. I subsequently moved into the position of Chef, managing food production and presentation, preparing both take-away and dine-in meals on order, and enhancing my coffee preparation skills alongside Youeni’s great baristas. I also managed ordering of produce for the Darlinghurst store before its sale, and after moving back to the Surry Hills store, managed ordering of dairy and fresh produce, regularly corresponding with suppliers. My time at Youeni was a great learning experience, as I learnt many new skills, such as the key elements of being a good barista and giving great customer service, as well as giving me a new perspective on great food. I also gained new insights into team leadership, team management and working within a team to best present a cohesive, enthusiastic workforce. The opportunities that the team at Youeni presented me have and will prove invaluable.

In this position I occupied several roles, for example, customer service; including telephone orders, answering customer enquiries and data entry on the store touch-screen electronic ordering system, and face-to-face customer service, food preparation in a commercial kitchen context including producing pizzas, cutting and boxing pizzas, preparing all sides for cooking and boxing, preparing ingredients and cleaning duties. Most of the work I undertook at Domino's Pizza took place at peak sales times, providing me with experience working in a very busy environment, alternating between customer service and food preparation positions consistently

During my time at Myer, my main responsibilities were related to customer service; including working with a team of fellow employees to source products throughout the store for customers, perform transactions including standard and lay-by purchases, and recommending products. I worked during Christmas period, in several different departments, such as Toys, Homewares, Children’s Clothing, Books, Menswear, Womenswear and Giftwear, learning versatility and adaptability.
