As Online Communications Officer at the City of Whittlesea, I'm responsible for coordinating content for all of Council's social media platforms which currently includes Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube. A big part of my role involves engaging with our community, and delivering a high quality customer service experience. I also maintain Council’s corporate website including daily content updates and working with internal departments to develop web content that meets objectives based on best practice principles.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take on the position of Acting Online Communications Coordinator, supervising one team member and driving the strategic direction of Council’s website and social media. I was responsible for implementing a series of website usability testing activities to measure the performance of Council’s website, including one-one-one testing with residents, heat mapping and monitoring survey feedback.This role also involved collaborating with internal stakeholders to provide strategic advice in the development of online content for Council’s website.

As Online Communications Officer I was responsible for day-to-day management of Council’s social media platforms including content development, strategic planning, monitoring and responding to comments and questions.I was also responsible for monitoring Council's social media channels to stay abreast of any issues relevant to the City of Whittlesea.I centrally managed Council’s distributed authorship process and coordinated the creation, review and updating of all online content by over 50 online content creators across the organisation. As part of this work I provided ongoing support to online content creators by delivering monthly workshops and training.

Developing and implementing effective marketing and communications plans, working with internal departments to ensure consistency of the City of Whittlesea brand, sourcing and delivering corporate sponsorship, graphic design, event management, writing and editing.

- Coordinating the bi-monthly community newsletter the 'Banyule Banner' including writing, editing and graphic design.- Media relations, delivering pro-active media opportunities and responding to media enquiries.- Coordinating internal communications, including monthly staff newsletter.- Developing and editing web content using Content Management Systems.
