Manufacturing Group Manager
Head of the team responsible for developing the critical manufacturing technologies required by our SMA actuators and designing the equipment required for micron resolution assembly of miniature components. Along with quantifying the relevant critical parameters and designing test equipment to ensure production is consistent and reliable.The team is also responsible for the development of new hardware and equipment for testing the end performance of the actuator products.Our responsibilities extend to transferring this technology to our end customers and licensees and supporting them both on site and remotely to master these technologies to enable them to develop their own products.
Titan Programme Manager
Responsible for the Technical lead and coordination of the new Titan product range which is in the process of development and launch. Titan provides chemists and chemical engineers with a new and innovative modular tool kit for; R&D, Pilot, Scale-up and low volume production in the field of continuous flow chemistry. To achieve the launch of an entirely new range of products involves the development of multiple new modules, through parallel development projects. My role is to ensure all of these activities are aligned, that the separate products are compatible and that the resulting systems can fulfil the specifications and requirements of our customers and the commercial team.Included within this remit is ensuring the individual products and the customer specific systems they can be combined into; comply with regulatory requirements such as Machinery Safety Directive and Pressure Equipment Directive, whilst I have also been developing my knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practise.The role also includes defining product briefs for future potential products, and considering the potential interactions with respect to those projects already under development.Maintaining touch with the development side of things, I also have direct responsibility for developing a number of the modules myself, taking them from concept, development, test and supporting through production release.Overall this requires close working with the design engineers, understanding the technical details, system interactions and project activities. Working with the manufacturing team to coordinate production release schedules. Close interaction with the Titan Product Manager who is responsible for the Commercial side of the activity, including providing the R&D representation to the Flow Chemistry product group.
Head Of Npd (New Product Development)
Responsible for the New Product Development (NPD) team and NPD activity. At the team management level this includes line manager responsibilities, recruitment, support and mentoring to a small but growing, multi-disciplinary team of engineers.At the NPD activity level, this involves creating and managing the processes and documents involved with running the phase gate controlled activity of New Product Development. This process involves people beyond my team and interacts directly with the Engineering and Tech Dev teams and with the 'New Product Creation' and the 'New Product Introduction' activities/processes.The NPD team takes concepts and ideas, generated in house, by partners or customers and turns them into fully tested, validated products ready for sale through our internal brands or customer / partner sales organisations. The activity involves close interaction with all the other commercial and operational groups and follows a flexible, structured phase gate process developed to support our ISO 9001 accreditation.The role also involves direct involvement in the design and development of products, including planning and leading projects, architecture development, mathematical modelling, CAD design, documentation, risk analysis, test planning etc.
