As the Director of Technical Services I lead a variety of pursuits related to compost process analysis, odor and emission testing, facility design and performance, regulatory compliance and emission control, and operational cost analysis.

Through this USA based sole-proprietorship, I provided renewable energy, organics management, process consulting, and emissions testing services to the organic waste industry. My responsibilities in this role were two-fold: 1) project development and 2) research and development.Project Development involves creating and managing new business opportunities for Harvest Power on the West Coast of North America in the energy sector through anaerobic digestion as well as in composting of organic food and yard waste. Within this broad category I focus on facility design, RFP writing, and the management of sub contractors (experts, engineers, contractors) in the development of RFP responses. I have been the project lead on smaller facilities (20,000 tpy) and co-leadership position for larger facilities (200,000 tpy). In the Research and Development role, I focus on the optimization of existing operating assets owned or operated by Harvest Power. In this broad swath of work I focus on biochemistry, feedstock, product and process assessment, data collection and analysis, experimental design, project management, regulatory compliance, odor management, odor monitoring, end-product enhancement and product development.

Directed the processing of 200,000 tpy of food, yard, and digestate through negative aerated static pile system at Fraser Richmond. Overhauled standard operating procedures by reducing piles from 30' to 12' and tripling aeration supply rates. Instituted process monitoring and QA/QC procedures through the operation. Developed an odor alert system and reduced odor complaints by >95% over a 3 month period. Established relationships with regulatory bodies and managed all aspects of regulatory compliance for the composting operation.
