The Low Fidelity Disconnect is an arts project established by Djevara and fronted by me as an extension of the band and our label imprint Genin. Our aim is to promote and encourage music and art, and to provide facilities and services to artists, musicians, and film makers. Services offered are broad in scope and application, from set locations for music videos, exhibition space, and a live venue. We spent around 6 years developing the concept in a converted warehouse in Seven Sisters in North London. During that time we used the space as a rehearsal studio for my own and other bands whom we knew, hosted around 30 free showcases (house parties with live music), and provided a workspace for artists. We hired the space out at a low rate to photographers and film makers. Over the years we lived with some exceptionally cool and talented sculptors and painters. The final 2 years it was primarily a photography studio. I developed some key IT skills after taking some evening courses during the first couple of years, and set up a home small business network, hosting all our email, web, SharePoint. The project is still active in a few ways. We help with mini projects such as small web hosting, email, and some other stuff, but is a personal project at this stage. There is a limited, and not-recently-updated site here, with some links to just some of the awesome bands and artists that passed our way: http://www.thelowfidelitydisconnect.org/bands.html
