Special Blend is more than just a DJ. Originally from Springfield, MA, DJSB is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, MA. His BS in Music Technology makes him a specialist in: music theory, composition, orchestration, arrangement, sound design, music business, music copyright and licensing.DJSB is currently DJing spot dates in his new home of Los Angeles, CA and elsewhere across the US. Past plays include South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, TX. Along with DJing spot dates, DJSB is a member of bands Pilot Touhill and White Planes. In both of which, he takes on the DJ/synth/beatsmith roles. He was also the DJ in the group Audible Mainframe which is a 6-piece live hip hop band. They have performed as Slick Rick's backing band and have played with other recording artists such as Damian Marley, Smif N' Wessun, K-Os, Wale, LMFAO, Common, Blackalicious, Biz Markie, Tone Loc, Arrested Development, and many more. The focus of DJSB's talent and focus is more on making music than just playing it. He is a musician first, then a DJ. However, being a DJ to him means more than just the playback of music of others. DJSB would rather create with a turntable than just push play. This includes scratching, beat juggling, production, live drum sequencing, mixing genres and including these techniques in his own production. His background in music technology, action sports and hip hop culture allows him to create that unique DJSB sound, which is a hybrid of life experiences and mastery of craft. The goal is to use these sounds in the music licensing industry for film and commercial usage.
