I embrace three major beliefs I feel are vital to being successful as a teacher. The first belief I embrace is that every child has some motivational factor in their life that will set their originality and their capacity for learning free. I am responsible for allowing that potential to mature in my classroom, at the pace in which it develops. Secondly, it is my responsibility to do whatever is necessary to see every student succeed. Success may be measured on quite a wide spectrum, ranging from an individual’s own principles and standards, up to and including the gamut of standardized testing; nonetheless, students will receive all my dedication when it comes to determining their success. Thirdly, I truly believe every student has within them the resources and means to contribute something meaningful to society, to their community, and to their own well-being as a participating member of this nation and this world. Every student should be aware of his/her place in the world and see their potential for making their claim in it. In my classroom, I want to be able to create an environment that not only encourages discussion and critical thinking, but also brings about comfort and invitation in an atmosphere where students who do not usually speak up about things concerning themselves will feel secure talking. Regardless of background, ability, will, or circumstance, all students are capable of greatness. It is my responsibility to incorporate new methods of teaching with traditional techniques in order to bring about the best results for my students’ learning capacities. My classroom is one in which students teach me just as much as I teach them every day; as a result, all will benefit from a reciprocated environment in my classroom.
