I successfully led the school’s return to in-person learning after two years of pandemic-enforced online education. Re-educating our students and staff to work in a community, remain mindful and proactive with their mental health whilst striving to achieve to the fullness of their potentials was hugely challenging, but ultimately very successful. My team and I have since built upon these successes through a clear focus and communication of our strategic goals. We have strived for an inclusive community, working increasingly closely with parents and other school stakeholders to imbed the vision and values of the school within the wider community. This broad based support has allowed our students to challenge themselves and thrive, charting their own course through their education.As a Geography teacher, I facilitate a holistic education, which places value on more than just exam grades, and my students are taught and encouraged to be reflective and self-regulating in their learnings and actions. Exam results in both IGCSE and IB are amongst the best in the school.

Teaching Geography across the age and ability range pushed me to extend my differentiation and AFL practice. In my two years at the school Geography uptake increased sharply. As a 6th Form Advisor I guided students through decisions about future study and career ambitions.

I greatly enjoyed teaching ESS in Prague as it gave me a wider perspective on the IB. I led a successful CAS tutor team, putting the emphasis on the students managing and reflecting on their individual, personalised programmes. Being a vertical tutor allowed me to develop an effective mentoring programme.

As Head of Department, I was directly responsible for six teaching staff and led the team in a successful delivery of the A-level and IGCSE programmes, through skill and reflection-based learning. As a tutor I developed and delivered a much-needed PSE programme.

In my time at the school the number of Geography GCSE A* - C grades increased by 37%, and the take-up at both Key Stage 4 and in the sixth form increased. My teaching was judged as outstanding by Ofsted. I also introduced and ran the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the school.
