George W Davis Jr.I have spent most of my career providing technology solutions to the defense and public safety sectors. Early on I worked for an engineering firm and environmental testing laboratory in New York State as Network Administrator.In that position I managed software solutions for architectural, civil, water and wastewater management, hydrology and laboratory information management, computer aided drafting (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS). A highlight of this experience was to integrate software applications and relational databases (Oracle, Microsoft and Open Source) to meet the data requirements of the disparate disciplines that converged under the roof of this growing organization.I started my own consulting company in 2000. Davis Associates Inc.Following the events of 9/11/2001 at the World Trade Center I was asked to help at the (EMDC) Emergency Mapping and Data Center located at Pier 92 in Manhattan. I spent the better part of the next three months mapping the area around Ground Zero as well as most of Manhattan south of Canal Street to support the many federal state and local agencies and non-governmental agencies that needed geospatial data and analysis.Following my work at the pier I continued working with NYPD and the FBI in a similar capacity. This led to me being approached to work with the NY Metro Infragard Chapter in the role of Geospatial Information Coordinator, a public private partnership between the FBI and critical infrastructure stakeholders in the region. In 2004 I worked on an operating picture for the Republican National Convention with NYPD and other agencies providing a geospatial situation awareness platform that was available citywide. The convention was the foremost national level security event to occur post 9/11/2001.In the years following I worked on several DHS Small Business Research Projects (SBIR) that also focused on situational awareness operating platforms. I held several positions with employers over these years including ERMapper, Leica Geosystems, which merged into Hexagon.Projects included mapping and aerial photography for several national and international disasters As well as projects for the US Department of Defense.I have been using LIDAR, 3D Modeling software, Uncrewed Aerial Systems (Drones), Thermal Imaging, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), GPS and other remote sensing technologies widely with a variety of agencies.
