I was responsible for managing a small team along with a diverse portfolio of clients. I predominately worked on audits and accounts for small to medium sized businesses, with some ad-hoc advisory work. I was the first point of contact for my clients which led to me building strong working relationships. Key responsibilities include:- Reviewing accounts and audit work prepared by junior staff- Managing the workload of junior staff- Raising bills and advising clients on the potential costs of our services- Presenting the audit plan to the audit engagement partner- Allocating work through the audit team- Liaising with the client to ensure work is completed on time- Executing on-site audit work and supervising the work of junior staff- Consolidating and sending audit adjustments to the client- Assisting and sometimes leading the audit closing meeting with the client- Submitting statutory documents to Companies House and HMRC- Completing ad-hoc advisory work e.g. Management accounts, company secretarial work

This was a brand new position in the company and I was the first person to fulfil this role. As a result I had a lot of autonomy which helped me to really build upon my decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Working at Active Surrey gave me a great opportunity to work for a not-for-profit organisation which focuses on increasing sporting participation throughout the wider community. In this role I completed five weeks work on an organised cycling event which followed the 2012 Olympic Road Race route. This involved many responsibilities including; communicating with sub-contractors, organising volunteers, administrative tasks, working effectively within a team, researching and event safety. During the actual event I had to be extremely flexible and adaptable due to the un-predictable nature of events.
