WorkingDesign is a business focussed in the design and remanufacture of hard to find car parts and OEM sensor interfacing. I founded the business in retaliation to high demand of an OEM oil temperature sensor replacement that I had made for the 939 Alfa Romeo range, and have since developed further products for other Alfa Romeo cars. The entire product range has been designed by myself; both electronically and mechanically.

The NPD Technician role involved a both design and validation for new and existing products. Thorough electrical and electronic principle knowledges were required in order to implement and experiment with new sensing technologies. Lifecycle, software, and design validation tests were carried out prior to any consumer product release to ensure specifications were followed. Being a Project Support Engineer required understanding of all departments within the workplace, in order to both create, and project‑manage the life‑safety system for the end‑user. PDS/requirements specifications were detailed and tailored to individual needs, and customer feedback on these documents was used as design input. The project processes were mapped using Gannt software, and reviews of project‑relevant documents were undertaken. Due to being the only member within the department for over three-quarters of the period, maintenance of both 2D and 3D CAD packages was required which involved updating all training documentation, overhauling the operating methods, and improving reliability and interchangeability within multiple systems. Good communications and relations were required both internally from project managers, as well as customer-facing in order to create a life safety system that met all requirements.During several months of this apprenticeship I was in charge of a secondary member of the department. This entailed teaching them internal 3D modelling standards, as well as introducing them to 2D and 3D modelling. Departmental communication was key within this aspect of employment, as knowledge gained by self-teaching was passed to the new team member through produced training guides and supervision. This position involved interacting with the public to provide an individual experience at the end of their shop. Good numeracy, communication, and interaction skills were required for this role. Problem solving and teamwork also played important roles in this for solving customer issues whilst also continuing to provide an individual experience.
