An executive leadership role, I led KPMG's Internal Audit, Risk and Control ('IARCS') practice for 11 years defining and implementing business strategies to drive sustainable growth in the business. I built a team of over 90 professionals, providing leadership and mentoring to create a collaborative , high performing team.Key achievements in this role included:• Recruited by KPMG to grow their NSW Internal Audit and Risk practice (IARCS) and serve on their IARCS National leadership team - Achieved significant top line growth during tenure.• Built a high performing team of over 90 professionals in NSW.• Successfully led bids for new risk and assurance work in many cases presenting to and satisfying Boards as the ultimate decision makers.• Facilitated Board Risk Strategy sessions for client organisations contributing to the development of Risk Appetite Statements and the development of Strategic Risk frameworks.• Led global benchmarking reviews of Internal Audit and Risk functions reporting to Boards and Regulators (APRA) of major listed entities.• Delivered a broad range of consulting engagements for blue-chip Corporate and Government clients.• Acted as independent accountant for major rail and road infrastructure projects in excess of $2 bn. As Australian Business Risk Services ('BRS') practice leader, I was mandated to revitalise the local practice, working closely with leading EY practitioners in the US and UK to develop a new strategy and value proposition. I built a team of skilled professionals to deliver on our enhanced value propositions and initiated a targeting programme to aggressively grow revenue.Key achievements in this role included:• Revitalising EY BRS Practice and grew this to a team of over 70 professionals which was recognised for ‘Special Achievement’ at the EY Global BRS awards.• Serving as a member of EY’s Global BRS and Enterprise Risk (‘ERM’) Committees and as a member of the EY Assurance and Advisory management committee.• Achieving strong revenue growth including addition of major new clients e.g. Lend Lease, Fosters and Qantas.• Managing the integration of Arthur Andersen Internal Audit team following merger with EY to achieve objectives around business retention, rightsizing and policy/system alignment.• Delivering engagements on a portfolio of assurance clients including CPH, CBA, SG Australia and Wizard. • Senior member of EY due diligence teams for a number of major corporate M&A transactions.

Recruited to lead Credit Risk Management for the investment banking arm of the Standard Bank Group, I reviewed and approved multimillion-dollar commercial credit proposals for submission to the CEO and Credit committee. My key focus was to apply a commercial lens to credit risk management to ensure we met client needs while managing the Bank’s exposure within appetite. My credit team covered the full spectrum of investment banking activities including Corporate Lending, Infrastructure Finance, Currency and Commodity Trading, and Treasury.Key achievements in this role included:• Chaired the Business Approval Committee to assess transactions and facilitate fast track decisions• Provided timely, commercial decision making supporting the business on time critical transactions and opportunities• Established a credit grading system to monitor overall credit quality

This is the peak Body of Corporate Treasurers in South Africa, where I was responsible for oversight of theprofessional education stream developing the curriculum of training for corporate treasury professionals.

In this role I provided Audit and Specialist Treasury Risk Management services to a portfolio of clients, including top 10 capitalised South African companies such as Standard Bank, SA Breweries and Iscor. Key achievements in this role included:• Developing niche specialist knowledge in Treasury Management and Risk, building a business practice area that addressed an evolving market need;• Appointed a Committee Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers of SA (1995-1999).
