Design and development of a new REST’ful Web.API ASP.NET web-service to allow integration between the vehicle tracking system and the operations system.Design and development of a SIRI REST’ful Web.API ASP.NET web-service returning real-time stop monitoring information for use by authorised third parties to obtain real-time information for display in customer information systems. Development of a suite of accounting reports and associated queries for a Sage Line 500 system using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services (SSRS). In order to implement these reports I had to become very familiar with the Sage SQL Server database and with the Cognos reporting tool.

Design and development of a suite of custom enhancements to the LawSoft Intranet application used for Personal Injury claims management. The system was developed in Visual Studio 2005 using VB.NET, ASP.NET with a SQL Server 2005 database. An attractive and consistent user interface was implemented using oBout controls.

Specifying and implementing Microsoft Reporting Services reports using SQL Server 2005 for a new sales pricing and quoting system for this large chemical distribution company. Additionally I have been designing and developing a new Intranet application using ASP.NET, C# and Visual Studio 2008. I am also responsible for carrying out various SQL Server DBA tasks required for unit testing and system maintenance.

Design and development of a complex timetable export system used to export National Express timetable data into industry standard AtcoCif files for use by third parties including the Department for Transport (DfT). The system was developed using VB.NET and SQL Server. I was responsible for consultation with the data consumers and the resultant design and development of the application.Support and enhancement of existing systems using various development technologies including VB.NET, SQL Server, DTS, Reporting Services (SSRS) and Ingres ABF and OpenROAD.

Analysis of a complex Oracle transaction database for an online gaming system and development of a new set of SQL queries and reports using Crystal Reports. Report generation was automated using Crystal Enterprise Server.

Design and development of the Waybill accounting system. As lead developer for this project I was responsible for user consultation, application specification and database design as well as development. The system was developed in VB.NET and SQL Server. Reports were implemented using Reporting Services (SSRS). The system also made extensive use of DTS.The system included a barcode printing and scanning feature to allow document workflow tracking.

Design and development of a customer information display system for displaying coach departure and arrival information at coach stations. As lead developer for this project I was responsible for user consultation, application specification and database design as well as development. The system was developed using VB.NET and SQL Server. GDI+ was used extensively for the display of data. Reports were implemented using Crystal Reports. The system is now installed at several of the main National Express coach stations.

Design and development of a large data warehouse system using VB.NET, Crystal Reports, and SQL Server (DTS, Stored Procedures, etc).Design and development of a document work-flow system utilising barcode scanning, developed using VB.NET, Crystal Reports and SQL Server.

Design and development of eKiT an SMS text messaging, location-based application using MS MapPoint, ADO.NET, SQL Server and VB.NET.

Design and development of OmniTrak a GPS vehicle tracking and management application using MS MapPoint, ADO, SQL Server and VB 6.

Loss-X is used in the manufacturing and chemical industries to analyse the production process and reduce wastage and inefficiency. The application has facilities to allow rapid data entry and validation and produces many reports and graphs and exports data to other applications. I was responsible for the initial specification, the application and database design and also its implementation. Loss-X was developed in VB 6 and uses an SQL Server database. It is a configurable packaged application which can be tailored by ABB Limited to meet the specific requirements of their different customers working in different areas of industry. The application is now being used at several sites in the USA and UK.

EXTRA II is a large, complex UNIX reservations system for coach travel. Development was in C and C++ using an Oracle database running on a HP UNIX platform. As well as working on the UNIX system I developed a PC based server to provide timetable and fares data to the main application. This server utilises a TCP/IP sockets based interface and was written in Microsoft Visual C++.

Designed and developed the CIDA system, a passenger Check-In Desk and Administration system for European coach travel. CIDA is another EXTRA II client. The system was based heavily on the SMART system and is designed to run alongside SMART. I was responsible for database and user interface design and development. I also incorporated a scanner interface to allow tickets and passports to be scanned to speed up the check-in process. CIDA was developed in Microsoft Visual Basic and Borland C++ and utilised a Btrieve database.

I was part of the team that developed SMART, a PC-based enquiry, sales and reservations system for coach travel. SMART is a client that communicates with EXTRA II via an X25 network. Amongst other things I was responsible for developing the interface to the ATB (airline style) ticket printers, the X25 interface, a credit card sales interface utilising Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Software and an interface to allow reservations to be made via the Internet. SMART was developed in VB and Borland C++ and uses a Btrieve database.

Danetre bought Active Document Solutions Limited in order to acquire the docuPOWER product (see below), so my main role in Danetre was the continued enhancement and support of the product.

As part of a three-man team I designed and developed a document management product known as docuPOWER.docuPOWER allows scanned paper documents and all forms of electronic documents to be captured, indexed and retrieved.Other features include OCR, Fax, data import, email, free text retrieval, automatic document indexing and interfaces to a range of scanners and storage devices including optical WORM drives and jukeboxes.docuPOWER was developed in Gupta SQL Windows and Microsoft Visual C, and uses a Gupta SQLBase database.My responsibilities included designing and implementing the relational database and the user interface, writing the front-end code in SQL Windows, writing DLLs to interface with 3rd party APIs, help file development, configuration, installation, documentation, training and support.

Part of a team that developed a multi-user housing maintenance system for a local government department. The system featured a distributed database linking council sites together using an X25 network. I was responsible for the development of the communications and control system programmed in C. I also developed an interface to allow the use of a front-end processor at the central site to improve data throughput.Worked on the development of NETPLAN, a system used for coach travel timetable planning and waybill accounting. NETPLAN is used by National Express Limited who are the UKs leading provider of passenger coach services. It is a large multi-user CA Ingres database system. NETPLAN exports data to many other systems including a PC based booking system (SMART), and a mainframe ViewData booking system (EXTRA II).I developed a complex and powerful database publishing extract facility that exports formatted data from NETPLAN to Adobe Framemaker to produce timetable documents. These documents include a complete timetable detailing all coach services for a six-month period. The production effort required to produce this guide has been radically reduced by the introduction of the NETPLAN system.NETPLAN was developed using the Ingres ABF, ESQL-C, RBF and SQL development tools.I worked on all areas of the NETPLAN system, but my main responsibility was the development of the travel connections calculation algorithms and the database publishing systems. I continue to work on enhancements and support of NETPLAN.
