About George Ramirez
I'm a third-year PhD student studying Latinx popular culture through theories of the digital. Broadly, I focus on popular music, visual culture, and comedy to explain how racialization is used as a technology of coloniality. My work strives to understand the role of sensation, embodiment, and affect in developing a shared sense of being for minoritarian peoples. With an undergraduate education in physics and history (double major), I use Latinx studies, queer of color critique, and digital media theory to better understand how Latinx peoples have always shared a sense of being despite digitization of ethnicity. My teaching experience and degree in education has supplemented my interdisciplinary methodology with regards to understanding how people learn and grapple with identity as historically underrepresented.
Listed skills include Research, Public Speaking, Microsoft Office, Social Media, and 14 others.
