I am a senior executive with over two decades of international legal and commercial experience working across the mining, resources and the agriculture industries. In my current role as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Wilmar Sugar Australia I am responsible for the management and conduct of all legal and governance matters affecting the Wilmar Sugar ANZ Group as well as providing independent legal advice to the Board. Wilmar Sugar Australia is the largest manufacturer and marketer of raw and refined sugar products in ANZ, a leader in renewable energy, biofuel, agricultural products, and a distributor of oleochemicals and other specialty products. This my third GC role, having previously worked for large mining companies PanAust Limited and Centennial Coal Company Limited. I have managed teams in a diverse range of business support functions including legal/secretariat, Communications, Risk and Compliance and head office administration I have also spent a number of years in private practice working for a national law firm where I advised on a number of large cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions in the resources industry. Key career highlights include:• Awarded ‘PanAust employee of the year’ in May 2016 and sponsored to attend Leadership Development Course at Mt Eliza Business School, University of Melbourne• Key member of the deal team responsible for coordinating PanAust’s response to the successful US$1.2 billion public takeover of the Company by Guangdong Rising Assets Management, a Chinese State Owned Enterprise• Whilst at Centennial Coal managed the negotiation and closing of a $150 million BOOT project involving the construction of the Springvale Water Treatment Project involving Energy Australia and a consortium led by Veolia• Whilst at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, acting for Yanzhou Coal, one of the largest Chinese coal producers, in its $3.33 billion acquisition of Felix Resources Limited, by way of scheme of arrangement. At the time, this was the largest Chinese deal in the Australian coal sector and the largest resources M&A transaction in 2009. The approval provided by FIRB was ground breaking in that it was the first Chinese State Owned Enterprise that was able to acquire 100% of a listed company. • Awarded Corrs Scholarship to attend the Emerging Leader Development Program at Columbia University in New York in 2008
