New circumstances have brought me to finally take a leap into the world of business for myself. Emvio Enterprises is the brain child of two brothers with a strong passion for manufacturing technology.The company is better known by the trading name Emvio Engineering.

Working in a team of experts in the field of Drilling Tools again! As Prinicial Engineering Consultant I am managing projects as well as doing the engineering work.

Taking an amazing cost saving idea from prototype to product! Starting with back calculating all the required numbers and designing a modular, adaptable and economical weldless processes pipe connecting system... Yes I am still running Emvio too.

This last position in the Big S had been equally fulfilling as the ones I held previously. Officially the title was Lead mechanical engineer, however, I did coordinate more than just the design aspect. I was the point of contact for any project related queries within the Stonehouse centre. I thus had to be on top of all project deliverables. Team was tasked in designing, proving and commercialising the newest rotary steerable drilling tool in the company. Collaborations spanned 3 continents and all levels in the Drilling Group. At the time of my departure from SLB, we had completed over 25 Field test runs, and in excess of 1000 hours of drilling. The tool is now called Neosteer!

Schlumberger is one of the leaders in the oilfield services sector. As such the company provides the oil Companies like Shell, BP etc with exploration, drilling, well completion and wireline logging. My current position involves increasing the reliability of exisiting drillng tools. A common misconception is that drill is only done vertically. All the vertical wells and the easily accessible reservoirs have been exploited. The challenge is thus to get the ones that were previously uneconomical or difficult to get to.As the environment is not benign, the tools undergo shocks, pressures and temperatures that are not seen in everyday engineering. Making the electromechanical assembly withstand these adversities is what makes a tool design company money. Time is money, the longer the tools last, the less the customer wastes. This in turn makes them come back for more business.A previous role in the company was on the the forefront of technology. Designing a complete new tool aimed at aiding the understanding of what is actually happening while drilling. The goal is to make drilling more efficient thus reduce the time required to get the job done.
