I am an experienced international sales and business development professional with extensive experience selling on multiple platforms, including conference sponsorship as well as print & digital media. I’m currently responsible for growing the commercial footprint of Daily Maverick which involves establishing new digital brand extensions as well as growing the events business by establishing new partner-collaborated as well as publisher-owned events. Daily Maverick is the best and most highly regarded current affairs title and we’ve lead the way exposing many political irregularities, in particular the #Guptaleaks whistleblower coverage which led to the eventual resignation of President Jacob Zumba. We were recently awarded the best investigative journalism award in the world for this expose. I am motivated, creative, and an excellent relationship builder. I have grown revenues and added value in all my past roles. I would like to fill a senior business development or sales management role with an international organization where both my creativity and commercial acumen will thrive and to help achieve the growth objectives of the organization. I understand global markets and current affairs, and I would ideally like to get into a role with an international scope, but this is not cast in stone. I would also be willing to relocate anywhere globally.I have managed teams selling on conferences and trade shows, print titles and a number of digital news platforms. My own sales experience has been forged in selling on and managing a publication for the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, four international conference and trade show brands in the US, Canada, Brazil and Colombia; and a global smart grid/ smart energy publication and two global smart energy news websites. I have a thorough understanding of conferences and trade shows, print, and digital products and I have designed successful multi-platform campaigns including sponsorship, print, content marketing and demand generation campaigns for blue chip clients.
