Temporary Chief Engineer MulltiPurpose Research Vessel

• Management and maintenance of all machinery in the engine room and onboard the vessel including propulsion control, power plant, utilities, navigation / communication equipment and electrical systems.• Management of all engineering personnel ensuring they are familiar with procedures and that they are properly trained.• Liaise between the engineering department and other vessel departments to ensure smooth operation of the vessel.• Operation of a safe working environment in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.• Administration of the planned maintenance system to ensure all technical aspects of the vessel are kept to a high standard of operation. • Prepare dry-docking work list in cooperation with the vessel owner’s representative.• Procurement of spares and consumables according to budget and in close co-operation with the purchasing department and the vessel owner’s representative.• Organising and assist during audits, inspections and survey by Classification Societies and State authorities.• Liaise between the vessel and the vessel owner’s representative on all technical issues.

• Reporting to the Chief Engineer on the daily operation and condition of the vessels machinery.• Communicating with other vessel departments to ensure efficiency of operation.• Full charge of engine room watch including maintenance and operation of main propulsion machinery and power generation equipment including all auxiliary systems.• Completing routine engineering duties required in the normal operation of the vessel and by the planned maintenance system.• An active member of the Shipboard Emergency Response and Fire Fighting Team.• Assist in the preparation of spare gear and equipment procurement requirements.• Ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.

Experience:• Trained in the use of Permit to Work and Risk Assessment• Maintenance & operation of Low Speed Marine Diesel Engines (MAN B&W).• Maintenance & operation of Medium Speed Marine Diesel Engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Scania, Bergen Rolls Royce, Wartsila, MAN)• Maintenance & operation of high/low pressure boilers (Up to 60bar).• Maintenance & operation of Marine Steam Turbines/Turbo Alternators (Mitsubishi and Kawasaki).• Maintenance & operation of Reciprocating & Screw type air compressors (Atlas Copco, Tamrotor, Sauer).• Maintenance & operation of Domestic Refrigeration Systems & associated equipment.• Maintenance & operation of HVAC Systems & associated equipment.• Maintenance & operation of Oil Purification equipment (Mitsubishi, Alfa Laval, Westfalia).• Maintenance & operation of Reverse Osmosis/Flash Evaporators (Alfa Laval, Enwa).• Maintenance & operation of Oily Water Separators (Alfa Laval, Coffin).• Maintenance & operation of Incinerators (Pyro).• Maintenance & operation of various deck cranes.• Maintenance & operation of hydraulic steering gears (Ram and Rotary Vane).• Maintenance & operation of Rolls Royce winch systems and associated anchor handling equipment .• Maintenance & operation of various types of pumps (Centrifugal, Screw, Reciprocating and Gear).• Basic Electrical Fault Finding and Repair.• General Welding Repairs & Fabrication.Systems:During my time working on various merchant navy vessels, I have extensive experience on the maintenance and operation of the following systems:• High Pressure Steam Systems(7 - 60bar)• Low Pressure Steam Systems• Condensate Systems• Heavy Fuel Oil Systems (Supply, Purification and Transfer Systems) • Cooling Water Systems (Sea Water & Freshwater Systems)• Marine Gas Oil Systems (Supply, Purification & Transfer Systems)• Hydraulic Supply Systems• Domestic Refrigeration• Compressed Air Systems (7bar to 30bar)• Domestic Hot & Cold Water supply systems (Including treatment)
